Beginning Teacher Induction and Mentoring Program Grant
House Bill 1 created a Beginning Teacher Induction and Mentoring Program that wil begin in the fall of 2007. Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) has been selected as a provider of mentoring programs.
Districts eligible for and who have applied for the grant receive funds to assign a mentor teacher to each classroom teacher with less than two years of teaching experience. Grant funds may also be used for teacher professional development for both mentor teachers and new teachers.
